A Summer Wedding at Blooming Hill Farm Hudson Valley, New York

Some days just work out exactly the way they’re meant to—and this summer wedding at Blooming Hill Farm was one of those days.

All week, the forecast called for nonstop rain. And not just a little drizzle—we were expecting a full day of downpours. But somehow, the skies cleared just in time, and we ended up with a warm, beautiful day from start to finish. The weather held out all the way through the ceremony, cocktail hour, and dancing under the stars.

And then—almost like it was planned—the skies opened up right at the end of the night. A full-on, dramatic summer downpour. It could’ve been stressful, but instead, we embraced it. We grabbed a few final frames in the rain and ended the night with one of the most epic rain shots I’ve ever taken. A perfect way to wrap up a perfect day.

Why I Love Shooting at Blooming Hill Farm

I’ve photographed a lot of weddings, and Blooming Hill Farm continues to be one of my favorite places to work—not just because it’s beautiful (though it really is), but because it’s so well-run and welcoming.

Katie and Kaitlin, the event coordinators, are fantastic at what they do. You can tell they care deeply about each couple and every detail of the day. They’re organized, thoughtful, and bring a calm energy that makes everything run smoothly from start to finish. It’s always a good sign when the people behind the scenes are genuinely happy to be there—and that’s 100% the case here.

The staff is friendly, attentive, and always on it. Every wedding I’ve worked at Blooming Hill has gone off without a hitch, and that kind of consistency makes a huge difference—for both vendors and couples.

I also love that they only host one wedding per day. It means the couple gets the full attention of the venue and team, and we have full creative freedom to use the space. Whether it’s spring, summer, or fall, the farm always looks incredible—rolling fields, wildflowers, wooded paths, and cozy corners that work in every season.

If you’re planning a wedding in the Hudson Valley and want a venue that’s as down-to-earth as it is stunning, Blooming Hill Farm is always a great choice.

And if the weather throws a curveball your way? Sometimes that just makes for an even better story.
